Since this year will coincide with the Year of the Dragon and the End of the World, we have decided to splash out on the Roosevelt Park bowling club as our venue, which oddly enough is just behind Northcliff Corner (Milner Avenue). Don't let the name put you off. Its actually a fab venue. Please bring yourselves and your A game, and all the hot girls you know. Seriously. This is Rock n' Roll. The line up that we are very excited about playing with reads as follows: THE VIXENS THE ROUNDS BAT COUNTRY ONE MIGHTY ATOM Great bands, better people. Who could want more? See you there.

We're in the process of finalizing a gig for the 3rd of Dec to close out the year. Save the date flyer done, next one needs details etc, will post here.

Recorded backing vocals last Thurs (8th Sept), courtesy of Vickee and Heather. Bevan played us what he'd done, which is a whole lot of good, so we're almost done. Minor tweaks. We'll send all 4 tracks off to be mastered once we've signed Habits off. This time next week, hopefully.
Went to dinner with Bevan, Paul, Ryan afterwards. The age old argument around music as art, and whether its ok to sell out. sigh. - Aug 28, 11
We've allowed the name 'the Mirrors' to die a death. We liked the name less and less over time so have decided to change to 'Bat Country'. Not having done anything official as 'the Mirrors' means we can do this. Its safe to say we're all very happy with how the gig went. Other than Earl tearing the bass drum skin during the first song (Sweet Jane), everything went smoothly. Earl: "And that... is why I prefer to bring my own kit" enough said. The audience was very receptive, if a bit stunned, I think. We were probably a bit more intense than what they were expecting, but at least nobody was left wondering. The acid test is whether we'll be invited back, will have to wait and see.
As agreed we'll audition bassists over the next few weeks to see if we can move to a 5 piece with Paul & myself on guitars. Will be an interesting experiment, obviously going to be hard to keep the guitars from fighting with each other for space. Hopefully we can make it work. Whatever happens next, the gig was one of my great memories of the band. Will look back fondly at this for years to come. - Aug 27, 11[27 Aug '11]So.... we get to open for a band tonight thats, erm, opening for another band. Re-recorded the bass (simpler, less fuzzy), Ryan put down some great vocals (less rockstar, quieter, creepier, more melancholy). I put down some very low key guitars (phased). Can't wait to hear how this comes out. Should sound closer to "A Forest" than generic rock, which will be interesting.
Seems to have been a good idea to get vocals down after bass & before guitars - at least we broke out of the what-to-do-with-the-guitars impasse. - Aug 27, 11
